In Mrs. Green’s English class, students try to be polite. When Tom feels hot, he says, “Excuse me, may I open the window?” The teacher smiles and answers, “Yes, of course. Go ahead.”

Sara doesn’t understand an exercise. She raises her hand and asks, Could you help me with number three, please?” Mrs. Green walks to her desk and explains the answer. At the end of the lesson, a student says, Can I leave my book here?” The teacher replies, “I’m sorry, you can’t. You must take it home.”
