A1 — Lesson 105: Reading – Mini-story in past simple

Unidad 8: Pasado simple. Foco en verbos en pasado: was, were, went, bought, made, arrived, opened, ate, took, played, listened, danced.

1️⃣ Mini-story — Lucia’s special Saturday

• La forma básica es: sujeto + verbo en pasado   (She went to the supermarket, they played games).
• Verbos regulares terminan en -ed (arrived, opened, danced).
• Verbos irregulares cambian de forma (go → went, have → had, make → made).
• Marcadores de tiempo típicos: yesterday, last week/month/year, two days ago.

Last month, Lucia had a very special Saturday. It was her cousin Diego’s birthday. In the morning she went to the supermarket and bought snacks, juice and a small gift. After that, she went home and made a chocolate cake. In the afternoon, Lucia and her brother decorated the living room with balloons and lights. Diego arrived at five o’clock. He opened his presents, and everyone ate cake and took photos. In the evening they played games, listened to music and danced a little. Finally, at ten o’clock, the guests went home. Lucia was tired, but she was very happy because the party was fun.

1) Why was Saturday special for Lucia?

2) Where did Lucia go in the morning?

3) What did she make at home?

4) What time did Diego arrive?

5) What did they do in the evening?

6) Lucia bought snacks and a small gift.
7) The guests went home at midnight.
8) At the end, Lucia was tired but happy.

3️⃣ Writing – choose the correct words (past simple)

1) Last weekend I ____ a small party at home.

2) My friends ____ at six o’clock.

3) We ____ games and listened to music.

4) At the end, they ____ home at eleven o’clock.
