A1 — Lesson 114: Prefer / would rather (básico)
Unidad 9: Descripciones, comparaciones y preferencias. Aprendemos a decir qué opción te gusta más: I prefer... / I’d rather... (I would rather).
1️⃣ Explicación — prefer / would rather
En A1 usamos estas estructuras sencillas:
| Estructura | Uso | Ejemplo |
|---|---|---|
| prefer + noun | preferencias en general | I prefer coffee. She prefers tea. |
| prefer + verb-ing | actividad en general | I prefer reading. They prefer walking. |
| prefer to + verb | actividad en general | I prefer to cook at home. |
| would rather + verb | preferencia en una situación concreta | I’d rather stay at home. Would you rather eat here? |
💡 Idea clave: prefer = en general. would rather = ahora / en esta situación.

Sarah, Tom and Leo are friends. On Saturday night they want to have dinner together. Sarah prefers Italian food because she loves pasta. Tom prefers something cheap, so he would rather go to a small café near his house. Leo doesn’t like noisy places; he would rather stay at home and order food online. Finally, they choose a small Italian restaurant outside the city center. It is not very expensive and it is quiet, so everyone is happy.
Esta lección prepara la Lesson 115 (Transporte y viajes: vocabulario), donde vas a decir qué transporte prefieres o qué opción would you rather usar.
